The beginning of my poetry

An Enquiry into Communication

A play with language and words, using Concrete poetry, which is an architecture of words on a page, the drawing in text – engaging the active reader, taking them to the next level. Some of these poetic formations demand to be read aloud.

This book is due to be shown at the Sheffield International Artist Prize/fair in October 2015 at Bank Street Arts, Sheffield.

Rhythm Installation

A poetry corner, stand on your box and rant.

Monitor on the plinth, projected profile view in conversation with oneself, the conversation that normally takes place in ones mind-externalised…but the sound for the projector sat in a different corner-dislocated, lost, as if lost in thought-you did have that wonderful idea, but nope- its gone, lost in translation.

The rhythmicality of the words, broken words forming a language within a language.

Cine meets Digital

Following the life of the cine film and mixing it up a bit by adding a few layers of digital automatic drawing four forward and one deleting (backward) in this film Having a bit of a play with the mixed media with a bit of sound, the sound for me locates the film adding another layer.

Poetry in Motion

Rhythm 2

Rhythm poems play on the senses in their written form, but bring them to life – poetry in motion, and it unfolds another layer to the reader and the listener.  Inviting the active reader to read out loud,  then read again – the poem takes on a life of it’s own, not being read the same way twice with all the mistakes and eccentricities that occur.

reflection on A Moment at the…Brewery Tap

Good to see how far the work has come since the last exhibition.  Poetry in Motion, The breaking of one language to the making of a new…  Playsense rhythm and communication.  The monotonous mono tones radiating the room unescapable into the psyche they go, only to pop out later when you least expect it-one two one, ooh whit oo.

It has become apparent that the Cine film piece is a site specific work, it is imperative that the loops are constructed to the given space each time the work is installed and not to be to precious regarding the length of the film unless one has the luxury to see said space and to make all the necessary plans and measurements before the film is made.

Refer to the film tab.

Cine Film reflections

A Thought Happening: The Voyage of the Line

The Cine film has a haptic quality that is not present in the digital Moving image, (try layering the digital on the Cine) a real-time thought process initially smooth albeit a tad haphazard but we are speaking internal nerves and migrating information through miles of miniature pathways. Leading onto broken disjointed flashing fried mono-snapshots of staccato moments and broken thoughts, shattered shuddering and splintered.

What would be the external result of that??

Once the interactions are determined, the analysis continues. Is there a hierarchy in the tangled mess, this scaffolding? A determining rhythm? A primordial and coordinating aspect? (Lefebvre 2013:43)

While playing throughout Interlude an interesting structural occurrence happened upon the film itself, the more it was played the more the pen line was scratched off, the more the film was scratched so inevitably one replaced the other in an ever evolving process.

The Looping of the film has placed the whole piece into the theatrical, installation genre very pleasing, and again unexpected. Rudimental and changeable. Visit at the beginning of the exhibition and you witness a clean line dancing/draw along the wall: visit during the middle and you witness a dancing, jittering line among growing thin straight lines: visit at the end and you witness a deteriorated smudge of what was a line spread across the wall-in places a line is left, and multiple thin lines building up to a crescendo of a thick sprawl in the background.
